Ari Laoch: President
As a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University's master’s program in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling, Ari specializes in providing person-centered interventions for adults identifying within the LGBTQIA+ population, persons with brain injuries, and persons having a substance use diagnosis. His interests include motivational interviewing, positive psychology and empowerment, as well utilizing a trauma informed approach in providing services. He is an advocate for affirming treatment for all persons as well as Civil Rights for all.
H smith: technology chair
H is a graduate student in Virginia Tech’s Counselor Education program. H is passionate about serving diverse and marginalized populations, as they have worked with Virginia Tech’s Upward Bound program by educating first generation college students about multiculturally-focused educational resources, in addition to currently being a co-facilitator for a youth sexuality and gender support group in Roanoke, Virginia. Their counseling interests include serving minorities and marginalized populations by taking approaches such as intersectionality, social justice, and empowerment.
